The charming village of Agel is located on a South facing rock outcrop in a meander of the river Cesse. It can be reached by road on the "Minervoise" wine route, halfway between Beziers (40 Km) and Carcassonne (50 Km).
Château d'Agel itself is tucked away in a valley of the Haut Minervois surrounded with hillsides, terraces and vineyards. The village is also well known for a mineral water fountain which is served by a natural source running a stone's throw from our offices!
Some wine's enthusiasts acquired this property in July 2003. They were looking for an estate having an exceptional qualitative soil but whose value had not been worked. The Château d'Agel is a beautiful wine-growing property located in the controlled label of origin MINERVOIS in Languedoc, next to the Black Mountain and the limestone (Causse) of Saint Jean de Minervois.
The parcels are divided in two distinct parts :
* a block of only one holding of 26 Ha : the soil is composed of alluvial terraces and pebbles at the river side.
* on the Causse de Cazelle at altitude (180 m) where the ground is mainly made up of chalky chips.
The climate there is Mediterranean, traditional, with a mild winter and a warm, dry summer
